Although today is the first day of the new year, Taiwan’s Defense Ministry remains hard at work safeguarding the nation's security.
On Wednesday, the Defense Ministry reported that a Chinese military aircraft was detected to have crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered the southwestern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).
Monitoring Chinese military activity from 6 a.m. on Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, a total of two Chinese military aircraft were detected. Seven Chinese military vessels were also observed operating around the Taiwan Strait.
The ministry assures the public that it is closely monitoring the situation. It says that air and naval patrols were deployed as well as land-based missile systems to respond to the activities.
