Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) met with Polish Senate Deputy Marshal Michal Kaminski this Wednesday as part of the delegation’s six-day trip in Taiwan. Han was accompanied by the Polish-Taiwan Friendship Group chair, DPP Legislator Lin Chu-yin (林楚茵), KMT Legislator Chen Yeong-kang (陳永康), and Taiwan People’s Party Legislator Wu Chun-cheng (吳春城).
Kaminski pointed out that Taiwan, like Poland, elects public representatives through free elections, and that the Polish people have realized the two countries’ shared democratic values since they first set foot in Taiwan. He added that the Polish delegation includes members from both ruling and opposition parties. Despite political differences, he stressed that all Polish parties share a unified stance against communism, describing it as a system built on lies and oppression, both in Poland and globally.
Han thanked Poland for their long-term concern for Taiwan, including their support for Taiwan’s participation in international organizations such as the World Health Organization.
Kaminski pointed out the increasing number of tourists that travel between Poland and Taiwan, noting the increasingly close economic exchanges. On behalf of the Polish people, he expressed the dream that there will be direct flights between Warsaw and Taipei to further develop relations and increase the frequency of exchanges.
