The Taiwan LOHAS (Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability) Association and Lion Travel have jointly announced the travel trends for 2025, in addition to officially launching their LOHAS Travel Year program. The program is intended to encourage elderly people to travel and walk more frequently for their health.

At their travel trend and product launch conference on Thursday, LOHAS Association Chairman and Lion Travel Director Huang Hsin-chuan (黃信川) said the association has been promoting elderly travel since Taiwan became an aged society in 2018. In 2025, it will transition into a super-aged society, meaning more than 20% of the total Taiwanese population, or about 4.6 million people, is aged 65 or older.

Huang said that the LOHAS Travel Year is based on survey results that indicated Taiwanese people are now more interested in leisurely and economical travel. In keeping with this trend, Lion Travel’s new itineraries prioritize health, relaxation, and learning opportunities, helping seniors lead healthier, more active lifestyles and socialize with others. The program also encourages consumers to travel during the work week, when there are fewer people and cars on the road.
