Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry expressed its appreciation for the support of G7 nations on Wednesday. This comes after the G7 Foreign Ministers, meeting in Italy this week, issued a joint statement emphasizing the importance of Taiwan Strait peace for global prosperity and security.

The G7 Foreign Ministers' joint statement highlighted preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region. The statement urged a peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues and expressed support for Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations. It also voiced serious concern over developments in the East and South China Seas and strongly opposed any unilateral attempts to change the status quo through force or coercion.

Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Taiwan's position as a responsible member of the Indo-Pacific region and pledged to continue strengthening cooperation with G7 countries. The ministry added that Taiwan is dedicated to working with like-minded partners to uphold a rules-based international order and defend universal values such as democracy, freedom, human rights, and the rule of law.
