After an extended summer that saw typhoons battering Taiwan well into November, temperatures have finally fallen across the country. According to the Central Weather Administration (CWA), the lowest temperature was recorded at 12.7C ° in Miaoli on Wednesday morning.
Meteorologist Wu Der-Romg (吳德榮) said that, based on the latest model simulations, the first continental cold air mass of the season is covering Taiwan, affecting all regions through Sunday morning. Under sunny skies, the high temperature in northern Taiwan will be 23C °, with the central and southern regions seeing highs of 27-28C °. However, come nightfall, nocturnal surface cooling will cause the temperature to drop rapidly.
Wu said that from Thursday morning to Sunday night, the flattest areas of Taiwan will see temperatures under 10C °; in Taipei, it is expected to drop below 14C °. As the next work week begins, the cold air mass will weaken and the probability of rainfall in the eastern half of the country will increase, while the western half remains sunny and clear.
