The Presidential Office announced on Friday that President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) will begin his first official overseas visit on November 30. The seven-day, six-night trip, his first since taking office, will focus on strengthening ties with Taiwan's South Pacific allies. President Lai is scheduled to return to Taiwan on December 6.

Presidential Office Spokesperson Karen Kuo (郭雅慧) said the visit underscores Taiwan’s commitment to strengthening its partnerships in the Pacific region. The timing coincides with the anniversaries of Taiwan’s relations with its diplomatic allies, 45 years with Tuvalu, 26 years with the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and 25 years with the Republic of Palau.

The trip emphasizes three sustainability goals - intelligent sustainability through economic resilience, democratic sustainability by deepening cooperation with like-minded allies, and enhancing cooperation to ensure mutual development and prosperity.

Former President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) visited the South Pacific allies twice during her tenure. President Lai’s trip continues Taiwan’s active engagement in the region.
