The ancient city of Antigua, Guatemala, hosted its 8th annual Flower Festival last weekend, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to its colorful streets. This year’s Flower Festival, themed "Alice in Wonderland," turned the city into a vibrant, storybook-like wonderland. Taiwan’s Technical Mission participated with a dome-shaped bamboo art installation that became a major highlight of the event.
Taiwan's Technical Mission, which runs the Bamboo Treatment and Investigation Center in Guatemala, designed the art installation inspired by Taiwan's baseball craze. The display also highlighted bamboo crafts developed in partnership with local artisans. The unique design attracted numerous visitors for photos, including Antigua’s Mayor Juan Manuel Asturias, who expressed hope for greater collaboration between Antigua and Taiwan.
Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, is Guatemala’s most famous tourist destination. With nearly 500 years of history, it served as the capital during Spanish colonial rule in Central America. National Geographic and other international travel media outlets have recognized it as one of the world’s most impressive travel destinations and the best city to travel to in Latin America.
