To boost Taiwan’s digital healthcare development, the Health Ministry signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) on Thursday. The collaboration will focus on three key areas: talent training, clinical decision support, and medical information integration.

Yale New Haven Hospital, consistently ranked among America’s top smart hospitals, is renowned for its innovative patient care technologies. The partnership was established under the witness of  Deputy Health Minister Lue Jen-der (呂建德), with Taiwan-born Dr. Allen Hsiao (蕭立民) serving as YNHH's Chief Health Information Officer. This collaboration aims to accelerate Taiwan's medical information platform development and enhance cross-institutional electronic health record interoperability.

Deputy Minister Lu emphasized that President Lai Ching-te's (賴清德) "healthy Taiwan" initiative prioritizes digital, precision, and regenerative medicine. He says that Taiwan's strengths in National Health Insurance (NHI) and AI development, combined with YNHH's digital healthcare expertise, create a powerful synergy. The partnership aims to establish Taiwan as Asia's smart healthcare innovation hub through international cooperation and digital transformation.

This cooperation will bring three major benefits to Taiwan: specialized training for chief medical information officers, sharing of clinical decision support system experiences, and professional guidance on hospital information system integration. These initiatives are expected to significantly enhance Taiwan’s smart healthcare capabilities and support the government's healthcare vision.
