Former Taiwanese President Tsai is on a European tour to advocate for Taiwan's democracy.

Former President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) embarked on her first overseas trip since leaving office, delivering a powerful speech at the Forum 2000 conference in the Czech Republic. Speaking on "Proving the Resolve and Resilience of Democracy," Tsai emphasized Taiwan's unwavering commitment to democratic values, especially in light of China's recent military exercises.

Perhaps the most significant engagement during Tsai’s visit was her meeting with Czech President Petr Pavel. This face-to-face encounter at the forum symbolized the strengthening relationship between Taiwan and the Czech Republic, rekindling their previous connection from a controversial phone conversation when Pavel was elected, which had upset China.

Beyond her official engagements, Tsai took time to explore Prague's landmarks, sharing her experiences on social media. She hinted at her next destination, possibly Belgium, where she might make history as the first former Taiwanese leader to meet with members of the European Parliament at EU headquarters.

Tsai's itinerary includes a stop in France to engage with pro-Taiwan think tanks and potentially visit the European Parliament. This showcases Tsai's continued efforts to strengthen Taiwan's international relations and advocate for Taiwan's democracy on the global stage.
