In response to China’s announcement that it will conduct "Joint Sword-2024B” military drills on Monday, Transportation Minister Chen Shih-kai (陳世凱) immediately implemented measures to ensure Taiwan’s air and maritime safety. Chen has instructed the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) and the Maritime and Port Bureau (MPB) to closely monitor aircraft and vessel operations.
The Transportation Ministry said that currently, China has not issued any flight notices or service bulletins, nor defined clear shooting or military drill zones. As a result, the ministry has tasked relevant agencies to remain vigilant and provide timely updates to maintain safety in Taiwan's airspace and waters.
The ministry reports that all flights at various airports and vessel movements in and out of ports are operating normally. The air traffic control units of the CAA will continue to monitor aircraft movements and provide air traffic services. The MPB will also increase safety broadcasts through coastal radio stations and work with the Coast Guard and military to closely monitor nearby ships.
