Taiwan’s 113rd National Day celebrations took place this Thursday in front of the Presidential Office. The ceremony roared off with a flyover by the domestically built Brave Eagle trainer jets, which crossed the skyline above the Presidential Office.
The first performance was by the Taipei First Girls High School’s marching band and honor guard, which was followed by Honor Guard of the Republic of China. Cheerleaders from all six Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) teams—the top-tier professional baseball league in Taiwan—joined the formation.
The national anthem was led by three war veterans who participated in 1949’s Battle of Kinmen. They were joined by the newly crowned champions of the World Choir Games, the NibunChorus. As the anthem played, a Chinook heavy-lift helicopter carrying the flag flew over the square in front of the Presidential Office, flanked by two Black Hawk helicopters.
The ceremony concluded with a performance by Juang Jing Vocational High School students. Special forces soldiers unfurled a massive national flag as the Republic of China Air Force Thunder Tigers Aerobatics Team flew above the reviewing stand, creating a stunning finale to the National Day celebrations.
