President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) says that Taiwan will continue to promote value-based diplomacy to contribute to global peace and prosperity. President Lai made the remarks during a meeting with Saint Lucia’s Senate President Alvina Reynolds and House Speaker Claudius J. Francis on Tuesday.

President Lai thanked Saint Lucia for its consistent support of Taiwan in international forums, including the recent United Nations General Assembly debate and the Central American Parliament. He emphasized the shared values of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law, noting the successful collaboration in economics, agriculture, and education. Lai called Saint Lucia a key Caribbean ally, pledging to deepen ties through value-based and economic diplomacy.

Saint Lucia’s delegation arrived for Taiwan’s National Day celebrations this week. Reynolds says her visit reflects the strong ties between Taiwan and Saint Lucia, expressing gratitude for Taiwan's decades of generosity. Francis praised Taiwan as a global leader in democracy, innovation, and resilience, highlighting its positive impact on Saint Lucia through healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure partnerships, and expressed hope for the ongoing success of the partnership.
