The National Immigration Agency (NIA) announced on Thursday that it will revoke the travel permits of the Chinese tourists who disrupted and vandalized an anti-Chinese protest.

On Tuesday, China’s National Day, two Chinese nationals visiting Ximen in Taipei threw a flag that read “Free Hong Kong-Revolution Now” on the ground. They argued with the protesters, saying they would not allow such flags to fly on China National Day and that Taiwan belongs to China.

Police intervened and escorted the two tourists from the scene. The NIA stated that Taipei police handed over the two Chinese, both surnamed Yao (姚), to the Taipei City special task force for further processing.

According to the NIA, the pair had violated Taiwan’s regulations governing entry for mainland Chinese citizens, which require visitors to act in a manner consistent with the purpose of their visit and refrain from behaviors that undermine Taiwan's dignity or status. Their stay permits have been revoked, and the NIA will have them deported in accordance with the law once Typhoon Krathon has passed.

The NIA emphasized that Chinese citizens entering Taiwan must adhere to all regulations, and that any violations will be dealt with strictly to ensure healthy and orderly exchange between the two sides of the strait.
