The Taiwan-Italy Parliament Members Friendship Caucus was inaugurated at the Legislature on Tuesday. This initiative, led by DPP Legislator Wang Ting-yu (王定宇), aims to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and enhance bilateral relations between Taiwan and Italy.

At the inauguration ceremony, Wang expressed gratitude to Italy for its ongoing support of Taiwan’s participation in international organizations and its attention to security issues across the Taiwan Strait, particularly amid a turbulent international landscape. He hopes the Legislature will send a delegation to Italy, serving as a bridge between the Taiwanese and Italian governments to foster closer exchanges.

The Italian Economic, Trade, and Cultural Promotion Office in Taipei Representative Marco Lombardi noted in his remarks that Italy possesses significant soft power. He expressed optimism for increased collaboration with Taiwan in sectors such as semiconductors, automotive, and cultural industries.

Foreign Deputy Minister François Wu (吳志中) also attended the event. Wu emphasized that Italy is a crucial partner for Taiwan and has demonstrated growing support over the years. He thanked Italy for its vocal support of Taiwan and its concrete actions, including dispatching aircraft carriers to promote peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Wu expressed confidence that Taiwan-Italy cooperation will become even more fruitful in the future.
