Taiwan’s East Rift Valley is a fertile expanse of land situated in a narrow gorge that separates the Central Mountains from the Coastal Mountain range. Stretching from Hualien in the north to Taitung in the south, the valley has significant natural, historical and cultural resources for tourism, agriculture, hospitality, recreation and other rural industry.

Some of the most popular activities include natural spas as well as cycling, hiking and organic farming. In addition, the valley’s many Indigenous inhabitants, including Amis, Puyuma, Bunun and Atayal peoples, celebrate cultural festivals, produce arts and crafts and provide education.

As one of the best areas for tourism in Taiwan, the East Rift Valley offers visitors an exceptional experience. Indeed, its rich biodiversity, outstanding cultural heritage and long history make it a remarkable destination.
