TaiwanPlus has launched “Namaste Taiwan”, a short episode program aiming to introduce Indian audiences and prospective residents to life in Taiwan and the similarities between Taiwanese and Indian culture.

The program is hosted by Dr. Priya Lee, a resident of Taiwan for almost 40 years. Prior to hosting, Dr. Priya served as a Chinese and English interpreter for New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜), and former Taipei mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲), in addition to her 30 years of translation experience, and experience on-site hosting. On the program, Dr. Priya visits temples, traditional markets and hot pot restaurants, inviting viewers to experience Taiwan on a day-to-day basis.

TaiwanPlus producer David Kao (高偉豪) said that the docuseries Taiwan’s Mega Factories, released earlier this year, has received nearly 2 million views to-date, India representing the highest number of viewers. Further, India and Taiwan signed a cooperation memorandum earlier this year, so further cultural changes are expected. These were just two, of many, factors behind the creation of Namaste Taiwan. It can be viewed through TaiwanPlus official website and Youtube Channel, although TaiwanPlus is also expected to launch on Jio TV, India’s largest OTT platform, to further enhance its access to the Indian market.
