The 2024 International Police Cooperation Forum on combating cross-border fraud began this week in Taipei, gathering diplomats, police officials, and law enforcement experts from 40 countries.
Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) says that in the era of globalization, transnational crime is growing and international cooperation is essential. Cho outlined five key goals including enhancing tech-driven law enforcement, revising legal frameworks, sharing intelligence, public-private cooperation, and deepening global collaboration.
Cho stresses that no country can tackle cross-border crime alone, as criminal organizations continually evolve, exploiting advanced technologies. He calls for collective efforts to defend justice adding that this long battle against fraud must be won.
The forum also covers issues like cybercrime, human trafficking, money laundering, and virtual currency crimes, with law enforcement experts from various regions sharing strategies and experiences.
