The Economic Development Commission held its first advisory meeting on Tuesday focusing on innovation, balanced regional development, and inclusive growth. Former Vice Premier Lin Hsin-i (林信義), former Chinese National Federation of Industries Chairman Rock Hsu (許勝雄), and Academia Sinica’s Cyrus Chu (朱敬一) attended the meeting.

TSMC's former Chairman Mark Liu (劉德音) delivered a keynote speech which was followed by group discussions. Topics included building a sovereign AI ecosystem, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, developing human resources and talent, creating an international-level net-zero smart technology industry, revitalizing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), increasing youth salaries, and expanding social investments.

Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) stressed the need for diverse perspectives amid geopolitical and economic challenges, emphasizing that while Taiwan leads in high technology, traditional industries and SMEs must also be supported. Cho added that regional development and equitable growth are essential for long-term economic stability and outlined over 140 local projects focused on innovation and balanced development.

The government also clarified that there is no restriction order on loans but acknowledged ongoing public concerns. Cho reaffirmed that the government would not disrupt financial market stability and has sufficient policy space to support the public effectively. He assured that Taiwan’s economic fundamentals are strong and the financial market is stable.
