The Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that it is closely following the latest developments in the Middle East, including a bomb attack that occurred in Tel Aviv, Israel on Sunday and wounded one. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Tel-Aviv is maintaining communication with Taiwanese residents in Israel. At present, none of them have expressed a need to evacuate.
There are currently 266 Taiwanese in Israel, according to the Foreign Ministry. Of these 266 individuals, 93 are Taiwanese people who have married and settled there, 149 are their dependents, 22 are students, and two are short-term business travelers.
The situation between Ukraine and Russia has also recently escalated, with Ukrainian forces advancing into Russia’s Kursk region since the beginning of this month. The Foreign Ministry stated that it is maintaining close contact with Taiwanese citizens in this area as well, and furthermore calls on citizens to avoid traveling to Ukraine and Russia unless necessary. Any Taiwanese already in the region should avoid military conflict areas and mind their personal safety.
