Education Minister Cheng Ying-yao (鄭英耀) attended the ministry’s model civil servant award ceremony on Friday, where 19 members of the Education Ministry received accolades and a special commemorative pin for their outstanding contributions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Cheng expressed gratitude to the award winners, saying that their commitment to higher values, and silent work on the frontlines has propelled Taiwan’s progress forward. He then invited guests to perform a “Sun Yat-sen University Style” 30-second applause to the winners to express thanks and respect for their hard work. As a special prize, Cheng also presented each award winner with a commemorative pearl milk tea badge, elaborating that he hopes it will also inspire others to continue striving towards a better tomorrow in their own lives.
The ceremony awarded 19 honorees in total including Comprehensive Planning Department Director Chen Su-ping (陳素艶), and Hao-Hsiang Chang (張皓翔), a NTU Medical College physician who leads a team into schools to vaccinate children. Of the winners, 7 men and 12 women in positions covering all levels of the Education Ministry were selected through a rigorous secession and review panel process. Cheng said they should be considered role-models to those around them, with the goal that all could continue to inspire each other to create a diverse, innovative, and comprehensive educational environment.
