All but two Taiwanese nationals have left Lebanon, according to the Foreign Ministry in a press release on Monday. It stated that the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Jordan is maintaining contact with Taiwanese living in Lebanon and will provide assistance if necessary. Of the five nationals who were residing within the country during recent extreme events, three are en route out of Lebanon and two have chosen to stay for family reasons.
With tensions between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah rising, the United States and Britain have called on their respective citizens to leave the country immediately. Recent air strikes and explosions have resulted in more than a hundred injuries and deaths.
The Foreign Ministry once again appeals to the public to avoid traveling to Israel and Lebanon in the near future. It advises those who are engaged in business travel in the region to pay attention to personal safety and to contact TECO in Tel-Aviv, Israel or Amman, Jordan as needed.
