Team Taiwan continues its fight in the Paris Olympics, with upcoming highlights in the women’s boxing, men’s badminton, and archery, which all have good chances of making it to the gold medal round.

Taiwan’s badminton men’s doubles team Lee Yang (李洋) and Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) will go head-to-head with the No.2 team in the world, Danish Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and Kim Astrup, whom they previously beat in the first round. A victory in the upcoming match would secure the Taiwanese duo a ticket to the gold-medal match for the second Olympics in a row. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the team won Taiwan’s first-ever gold medal in Men’s Badminton, so audiences can expect an exciting match.

In similar news for the men’s singles, Chou Tien-chen (周天成) has advanced to the quarter finals, where he’ll face off against India’s Lakshya Sen. Chen has made the semi finals since the 2016 Rio games, and this year is his best yet. With an advantage of 3 wins to 1 loss, this year may see him crack the semi-finals in a new personal best.

Meanwhile, Taiwan’s female boxing champion Chen Nien-chin (陳念琴) is currently set to face off against Uzbekistan’s Sitora Turdibekova. While Chen lost in the first match of the Tokyo Olympics, she’s had a strong showing in 2024. A success in her upcoming match will likewise ensure the first Olympic medal of her career.

Archery, and shooting are other opportunities for Taiwan to bag a medal in 2024. Taiwan’s Tai Yu-hsuan (戴宇軒) and Lei Chien-ying (雷千瑩) have advanced to face South Korea’s Kim Woojin and Lin Sihyeon in the eighth elimination round. Wu Jia-ying (吳佳穎) and Tien Chia-chen (田家榛) will compete in the women’s 25 meter pistol qualifying tournament. Both shooters are on their third Olympic appearance, and aim to best their Tokyo showings where they placed fifth, and eighth respectively.

Finally, Zhang Bo-ya (張博雅) will compete in the 100 meter preliminaries, while swimmer Angie Coe (韓安齊) takes on the women’s 200 meter individual medley. 2024 is both athletes’ Olympic debut, which audiences are sure to watch with high hopes.
