Taiwan has secured its first medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics, with boxer Wu Shih-yi (吳詩儀) advancing to the semifinals in the women’s 60kg category. Her 4:1 victory over Ecuador's Maria Jose Palacios Espinoza guarantees at least a bronze medal, with hopes for gold or silver still alive.

In badminton, the men’s doubles pair Lee Yang (李洋) and Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) secured their spot in the quarterfinals with a comeback win 2:1 against China’s duo. Singles player Chou Tien-chen (周天成) also advanced with a straight-sets win over Hong Kong's Lee Cheuk Yiu. Unfortunately, women's singles star Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎), hindered by an injury, lost to Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon.

The Taiwan team saw its greatest successes in table tennis. Lin Yun-ju (林昀儒), nicknamed the “Silent Assassin,” secured a victory over Slovenia’s Darko Jorgić 4:0 to reach the quarterfinals. Women's number one Cheng I-ching (鄭怡靜) also advanced to the quarterfinals with a decisive win over Poland's Natalia Bajor.

Despite these triumphs, there were some setbacks. Young table tennis player Kao Cheng-jui (高承睿) fought valiantly, but ultimately lost to Sweden's Truls Möregårdh in a closely contested five-set match, finishing in the top 16.
