Two-time Olympic shooting veteran Tien Chia-chen (田家榛) takes on her third Olympic Games this year. Tien earned her ticket to compete at the Paris Olympics by ranking seventh in the women’s 25-meter pistol event at the 2023 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Azerbaijan.
Tien placed 16th in the women’s 25-meter pistol event and 27th in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event at the 2012 London Olympics. Tien considered retiring after the birth of her daughter in early 2018 but decided to return to the sport. She went on to place eighth in the women’s 25-meter pistol event at the Tokyo Olympics.
Tien is entering the Paris Olympics at 40 years old. Tien says she is heavily influenced by her father and coach Tien Chao-chih (田兆枝), who has accompanied her throughout her shooting journey which began in junior high school. After her father’s resignation, she is now coached by former teammate Chen Ssu-wei (陳思薇), who will join her in Paris.
