Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) unveiled a comprehensive diplomatic strategy on Tuesday, highlighting three key pillars: Value-based Diplomacy, Alliance-based Diplomacy, and Economic and Trade Diplomacy.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jeff Liu (劉永健) says by using this approach, the government will leverage Taiwan's competitive advantages in critical sectors. It will also address global industrial needs, while actively expanding partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
The Foreign Ministry will lead a planning team with the Cabinet's Economic Diplomacy Task Force. It will coordinate efforts across departments and undertake inter-ministerial efforts to safeguard and bolster Taiwan's role in global supply chains and strengthen exchanges with like-minded countries.
The task force recently announced two preparatory meetings committed to enhancing Taiwan’s international participation in five key industry sectors identified by President Lai Ching-te (賴清德). The sectors include semiconductors, artificial intelligence, defense technology, security and surveillance, and next-generation communications.
In response to media inquiries on plans for overseas industrial parks, the Foreign Ministry declined to comment. It clarified that such initiatives fall under the jurisdiction of the Economic Affairs Ministry.
