Marshall Islands Legislative Speaker Brenson Wase is leading a delegation to Taiwan from July 11 to 16. The delegation met with President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) at the Presidential Office on Monday to enhance exchanges and deepen the friendship between Taiwan and the Marshall Islands.

In his remarks to the delegation, President Lai highlighted that Taiwan and the Marshall Islands have faced mutual challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. The two nations have continued to deepen collaborations in fields such as agricultural technology, women's empowerment, and climate change.

Lai noted that the Marshallese parliament passed resolutions in April to support Taiwan’s participation in various international organizations. Additionally, the two countries have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Education earlier this July, aiming to expand bilateral exchanges in education, sports, and personnel training.

Lai emphasized that Taiwan and the Marshall Islands are working together to increase their international visibility. He expressed his hope that friendship between the two nations will further enhance the welfare of their peoples.

Speaker Wase acknowledged Taiwan's significant contributions to the world in various fields, highlighting its role as a responsible member of the international community. He emphasized the Marshallese Parliament's strong support for Taiwan’s participation in United Nations-associated organizations. Wase expressed his belief that Taiwan’s participation will foster global collaborations and promote peace and stability worldwide.
