Taiwan’s worker spirit ranks second in Asia, according to Gallup’s recently released 2024 State of the Global Workplace report. The Gallup World Poll collected opinions from over 128,000 adult workers in more than 160 countries and regions and reported how respondents felt about their jobs.

According to Gallup’s responses, a global average of 34% of participants said that they feel energetic at work while 58% indicated that they are struggling and 8% admitted that they are suffering. The study found that those who are happier have significantly fewer health problems, less mental and emotional distress, more interests outside of work, and more hope for the future. It said that when companies provide good environments and resources and encourage meaningful work and working relationships, employees enjoy better lives in both the public and private sectors.

The top 10 countries with the highest proportion of positive respondents are Finland at 83%, Denmark at 77%, Iceland at 76%, the Netherlands at 71%, Sweden at 70%, Israel at 69%, Norway at 67%, Costa Rica at 62%, Belgium at 60%, and Australia at 60%.

The top 10 Asian countries are Vietnam at 51%, Taiwan at 41%, Singapore at 39%, Thailand at 37%, the Philippines at 36%, China at 36%, South Korea at 34%, Malaysia at 31%, Japan at 29%, and Mongolia at 29%.
