The Foreign Ministry thanked the leaders of the G7 countries for their joint statement on Wednesday reaffirming the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. The Foreign Ministry’s response, issued on Thursday, also noted the G7’s call for a peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues

The G7 statement added that there has been no change to the basic positions of the G7 countries on the Taiwan issue or to their respective “one-China” policies.

The Foreign Ministry says that Taiwan is a crucial country in the Indo-Pacific region and will continue collaborating with the G7 and other like-minded countries to improve the resilience of global democracy, protect the international order, and resist authoritarian coercion.

The ministry’s statement says that China's military expansion in recent years has posed a serious threat to the security of the Indo-Pacific region and the world. It adds that since the beginning of this year, many countries have reiterated their positions in joint communiques or statements, demonstrating that ensuring security in the Taiwan Strait has become the international consensus.
