President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) received a delegation of overseas Taiwanese from North America at the Presidential Office on Wednesday. Before the reception, Vice President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) joined Tsai in extending greetings and gratitude to the visitors for their support for Taiwan.
In her address, President Tsai first expressed her warm welcome and thanked the group for their long-term support. Tsai highlighted the role played by the overseas Taiwanese community in building bridges of communication between Taiwan and North America over the years. She commended their efforts in organizing parades, petitions, and other activities that bring together younger generations of overseas Taiwanese to inherit and market Taiwanese culture.
Tsai says that despite challenges, Taiwan has consistently implemented robust policies, overcome obstacles, and strengthened its national capabilities. She says the government is committed to industrial transformation and achieving net-zero emissions to ensure Taiwan remains competitive globally.
Tsai says the delegation's itinerary will extend beyond Taipei, with visits planned for Changhua, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. She adds she hopes the delegation will witness Taiwan's progress and development firsthand during their visit.
