Hsiao Bi-khim bids an emotional farewell to colleagues, supporters and U.S. partners alike as she resigns from her position as Taiwan’s representative to the U.S.

In a farewell speech at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in Washington, D.C, Hsiao said that she was grateful for the support of all her hard-working colleagues.

Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) Vice Presidential candidate Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) resigned as Taiwan's Representative to the United States which will take effect on Thursday. That’s according to a Presidential Order issued on Tuesday.

Hsiao, who was appointed representative to the United States in 2020, worked to strengthen relations between Taiwan and the United States during her tenure. Hsiao also thanked bipartisan friends in the U.S. government for their support of Taiwan and said that the U.S. has been a steadfast friend and ally of Taiwan.

Hsiao, who also recently started a YouTube channel, uploaded her first episode called "Cat Warrior Meow Meow Meow," where she talks about her love of cats and how she came to be known as the Cat Warrior. She shares that her oldest cat is named Princess, who has a bad temper and doesn’t get along with people very well. Hsiao will be bringing back her four cats and is expected to return to Taiwan on Wednesday, U.S. time.

Hsiao was officially named by DPP presidential candidate Lai Ching-te (賴清德) as his running mate on November 20. She released a video from the U.S. on Tuesday stating that the Cat Warrior is in position and that she is already working hard on the campaign to help down-ballot candidates.
