The Ministry of Justice held a press conference on Friday to publicize its efforts to combat corruption and ensure the integrity of the 2024 presidential election. Justice Minister Tsai Ching-hsiang (蔡清祥) said in a speech that as the country prepares to elect its next leaders, investigators have been fully deployed in advance.

Tsai says that the ministry aims to ease concerns about foreign interference by targeting foreign money transfers, illegal organizations, and disinformation. He says that investigators are also ensuring the integrity of voter rolls by using data from both the police and the household registration systems.

The ministry also laid out the rewards for whistleblowers who report bribery among politicians and candidates. Rewards for reporting bribes among presidential and vice presidential candidates will be up to NT$15 million (US$474,000), for legislators NT$10 million (US$316,000), and for election betting NT$5 million (US$158,000). Those reporting foreign interference through financial or other means could receive a reward of up to NT$20 million (US$158,000).
