TSMC’s Kumamoto plant will be the first overseas factory to be completed and is expected to be the speediest mass production operation. This was the word from Economic Minister Wang Mei-hua (王美花) at the 34th Sino-Japanese Modern Engineering and Technology Symposium on Monday.
Wang says that Taiwan and Japan have similar tech-talent backgrounds and work cultures. She points out that semiconductor production is one of the biggest conversation points between the two countries and the construction progress of the Kumamoto plant is highly anticipated and appreciated.
Wang also says that while Taiwan’s semiconductor process R&D and production are the most advanced in the world, Japan’s material technology is similarly internationally renowned. She says that close cooperation between the two countries’ industries would be a definite win-win.
