Taiwan and India are in the negotiation process of signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on migrant worker cooperation. The MOU is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Indian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi says that the MOU will benefit both sides. Premier Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) stated on Friday that Taiwan and India have a strong complementary relationship and that both countries are committed to further promoting their trade and economic ties. Chen added that Taiwan has been discussing Indian migrant workers for years and that he hopes to further assess the needs of Taiwan’s industries before deciding on which to supplement.

The Premier mentioned in a meeting with India Taipei Association Director Manharsinh L. Yadav on September 12 that Taiwan and India are negotiating MOUs on immigration policy and traditional Chinese medicine, and the two discussions are progressing well.
