Traffic is a normal part of living in a crowded city such as Taipei, but the addition of a new factory has made traveling to work very difficult for the employees.

Video script:

How long do you spend commuting to work? Would two hours or more be acceptable? This may be the case for workers at Neihu Technological Park, which increased working positions by nearly 4,000 overnight.

Originally located in Songshan, Formosa Plastics Group opened a new factory in Neihu on Monday. However, this caused several traffic jams, and locals reported being unable to get on the bus.

Many people are trying to get to work on time in the morning, but this has become especially difficult as public transport is overcrowded. One resident claimed that he couldn’t get on two consecutive buses as they were full and he had to wait for a third. Some people cut the waiting lines and squeezed their way on as early as possible because the chances are that you won’t be able to get on until the next one. Residents are worried about the situation becoming worse.

Formosa Plastics Group responded by arranging shuttle buses from Songshan Station and adjusting employees' work shifts to stagger start times. Department of Transportation Commissioner Hsieh Ming-hong (謝銘鴻) says the issue has become a focus of the legislature and that they are in the process of understanding and coming up with a solution for this situation.
