President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) reaffirmed Taiwan’s commitment to maintaining regional peace during a post Yushan Forum reception in the Presidential Palace on Friday. She pledged to be more active in international affairs and to deepen partnerships with like-minded countries.
Tsai expressed gratitude to all participants for their contributions, valuable insights, and suggestions in the Yushan Forum. She stated that more and more countries have publicly expressed the importance of peace in the Taiwan Strait.
The President also referred to former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Kelly Craft appearing at the U.N. Headquarters with a Formosan black bear plush toy. She emphasized that, through news coverage and social media, Craft encouraged Taiwanese students to believe in democracy.
President Tsai also discussed Taiwan's progress in its New Southbound Policy, and how it has been promoting exchanges in the fields of education and technology. She said that Taiwan looks forward to cooperating with more countries with similar concepts to jointly contribute to world peace, stability, and prosperity.
