President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) attended the unveiling ceremony of National Taiwan Normal University’s (NTNU) College of Interdisciplinary Industry Academia Innovation on Wednesday.
In her speech, the President said she believes that through the joint efforts of academia and industry with flexible innovation, the college will bring together resources and cultivate outstanding industrial talents. The college includes two research institutes focused on applied AI technology and green energy and sustainability.
President Tsai stated that AI not only transforms industries but also constantly reshapes human values and therefore it is essential that Taiwan lead the development of humane AI. She said that she believes the new college will be able to cultivate key talents for the application of the AI industry.
In terms of green energy, the President pointed out that reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 has become a global consensus, and the Taiwan government has the determination and responsibility to achieve this goal. She said that Taiwan must cultivate more green energy talent and hopes that the new college will help the country move more steadily towards net-zero emissions.
