The Central Weather Administration (CWA) says it will issue a sea warning for Typhoon Koinu Monday night or Tuesday morning. Typhoon Koinu is currently located 800 kilometers east-southeast of Taiwan. CWA reporter Huang En-hung (黃恩鴻) says Typhoon Koinu will make landfall in Hengchun Peninsula or Taitung.
Huang adds from Tuesday to Friday, Taiwan’s East Coast will experience heavy rainfall and strong winds. It is anticipated that Southeast Taiwan and Hengchun Peninsula will also experience torrential rain from Wednesday to Thursday, according to CWA.
Typhoon Koinu is forecasted to leave Taiwan on Friday or Saturday.
