Rainy weather may impact the traditional moon viewing associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival which begins on Friday. That’s according to a forecast of the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) released on Thursday.

The bureau says that by Sunday, October 1, a low-pressure system coming from the east will arrive in Taiwan. The forecast predicts showers in the north and eastern half of Taiwan all the way down to the Hengchun Peninsula. Daily high temperatures are also expected to drop, with the northern and eastern parts of Taiwan possibly reaching lows of 25 degrees Celsius on Sunday or Monday.

A traditional part of the festival is to watch the moon at night, especially during the full moon. According to the Taipei Astronomical Museum, the first day of this year’s festival coincides with a full moon, which is relatively rare. The museum also says that while the coming full moon is not technically a “supermoon”, it is still the largest moon seen during the festival since 2015.
