President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) honored 72 teachers at Yangmingshan ChungShan Hall for the 2023 National Excellent Teacher Award ceremony on Monday. She thanked all the educators for their contributions and dedication in cultivating diverse talents. More than 200 teachers with over 40 years of teaching experience were present at the event.
Tsai said National Taitung University Laboratory Elementary School instructor Tsai Pei-chin (蔡佩津) is the youngest recipient of the award. She especially mentioned National Cheng Kung University Mechanical Engineering Honorary Professor Li Ke-yang (李克讓) as the most senior educator in Taiwan. She said the 95-year-old professor has helped thousands of students in the past 30 years.
Tsai also thanked National Taiwan University of Science and Technology Electrical Engineering Professor Lin Yuan-hsiang (林淵翔), Taipei Wanfang High School instructor Huang Hsiao-ping (黃曉萍), and Kaohsiung Special Education School instructor Chou You-sheng (周滺聖) for their exceptional service. The president said she hopes teachers will continue to nurture students to help them reach their full potential.
