President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) met with U.K. Trade Envoy Richard Faulkner and his delegation on Monday to discuss investment, trade, and energy cooperation between the two countries.

Tsai said Taiwan and the U.K. are continuing to deepen their cooperation in the development of renewable energy. With over 40 British companies having offshore wind operations in Taiwan, Faulkner said he hopes both sides will discuss how to elevate trade and investment, net-zero carbon emissions, and technology cooperation.

Faulkner added that Taiwan and the U.K. should take the opportunity to deepen their trade partnership, the sum of which reached 8.6 billion pounds in 2022. He pointed out that the world recognizes the important role Taiwan plays in the global semiconductor supply chain. Tsai also said that cooperation in investments and trade are important to the Taiwan-U.K. relationship. She thanked Faulkner for the U.K.’s support of Taiwan’s security and international participation.
