Taiwan's Defense Ministry reported in a press release on Thursday that it had detected increased Chinese military activity in areas around Taiwan since Thursday morning. The ministry said they will closely monitor any movement by way of coordinating aircraft, naval, as well as coastal missile systems.
In response to questions from legislators on Friday, Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng (邱國正) said that since the ministry detected military activities in the area, it’s their responsibility to make timely updates and comply with the principle of presenting facts.
Chiu also refuted claims about the lack of radar capabilities in Taiwan’s military forces and said that intelligence can be gathered through various means. He stressed that Taiwan's military does not depend solely on one source and does not share information indiscriminately.
