Radio Taiwan International (Rti) Vice President Lee Ming-li (李明俐) led a group to Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday for the station’s 95th anniversary forum. Taiwan Education Center in Thailand Director Kao Nan-hsiang (高南香) personally greeted the group.

There are four Taiwan Education Centers in Thailand providing free counseling services to Thai students interested in studying in Taiwan. Gao says the Taiwan Higher Education Fair in Thailand attracted over 2,800 participants in August, with 32 schools from Taiwan attending.

Gao says business management and engineering programs in Taiwan are among the most popular programs for Thai students since many of them are taught in English. These programs are more accessible to Thai students who are yet to have an advanced proficiency in Mandarin Chinese. Gao also says many Thai teachers would bring students to Taiwan for short-term study tours with the visa-free policy between the two countries. This has created more opportunities for cultural exchange between the two sides.

Lee says Rti’s Thai language service has a long history at the station, and many Thai listeners, including Thai students and migrant workers, stay up to date about Taiwan through Rti’s programs. She looks forward to more exchanges and collaboration with Thailand in the future.
