The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jeff Liu (劉永健) says Taiwan’s policy is to strengthen its self-defense capabilities and be prepared rather than make speculations on when China will attack Taiwan. The comments were made in a press conference on Tuesday. Liu says that such preparations will emphasize the high costs of war to China.
Liu’s statement comes after U.S. President Joe Biden’s remarks at a press conference in Vietnam on Sunday. In the press conference, Biden said that he does not think China’s economic issues will lead to an invasion of Taiwan, and on the contrary, China does not have the same capabilities that it had previously.
