Taiwan’s national postal service Chunghwa Post will not resume package transshipments from China to South Korea at this time, that's the word from the postal service on Friday. This decision comes despite South Korea's recent agreement to restart transshipments. However, Chunghwa Post says there are still concerns over fraudulent packages from China.

In July, a package shipped from China to South Korea via Taiwan was suspected to be poisonous. At that time, South Korea stopped accepting transshipments from Taiwan.

Wang Wan-ju (王婉如), director of Chunghwa Post's Department of Mail Business & Operations says Korea Post, South Korea’s national postal service, did not provide further information or updates, leaving the final outcome of the investigations unclear.

Wang says Chunghwa Post has discussed strengthening transshipment control measures. These measures include only accepting consignments from certified logistics providers. There will also be stricter screening for suspicious items such as solid fragrances and essences, and items that are often falsely reported like lipstick and cotton pads. These mechanisms are to prevent false declarations from going undetected.
