The 6th Economic Consultation between the Czech Republic and Taiwan was held in Taipei on Tuesday. The focus of the conference was on industries such as smart machinery, green energy, and space.
The economic affairs ministry says that the two sides had in-depth exchanges on economic and trade policy, trade, and investment. The ministry says both sides look forward to leveraging each other's industrial and R&D advantages to deepen supply chain cooperation.
The Czech corporate delegation will also be participating in the international semiconductor exhibition, SEMICON, which will be held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Hall on Wednesday through Friday. Together with the economic affairs ministry, they plan on organizing lectures, matchmaking talks, and other events to strengthen cooperation and create mutually beneficial business opportunities.
The ministry says that the Czech Republic is an important market for Taiwanese businesses in Europe. According to government statistics, the bilateral trade volume in 2022 reached US$1.15 billion, a growth of 20%. Taiwan's cumulative investment in the Czech Republic is US$179 million, with the telecommunications industry as the major sector.
Taiwan's main exports to the Czech Republic include components for information products, bicycle parts, automotive parts, and communication products. Taiwan’s main imports from the Czech Republic include small passenger cars, electron microscopes, generators, and automotive parts.
