The Garden of Hope Foundation (GOH) recently released Frequently Asked Questions and Answers (FAQs) for pregnant migrant workers on their Facebook page. The FAQs aim to provide information to migrant workers, employers and manpower agencies dealing with pregnancy concerns and come in Chinese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Filipino.
GOH runs the Integrated Service Center for Migrant Women and Children under the Labor Bureau of the Taoyuan City Government. According to GOH-Migrants Director Kaili Lee (李凱莉) the number of pregnant migrant workers seeking help has continued to rise since the center started operating in January last year. For this year alone, as many as 117 consultations have been received from January to July. Lee said that while Taiwanese employers and manpower agencies already know that pregnant migrant workers cannot be dismissed at will, they are unclear on specific regulations.
Lee welcomes people with inquiries and concerns to call the center hotline at 03-2522522. The center provides legal consultation services, referral services, case assessment and placement services to pregnant migrant workers, employers and manpower agencies.
