Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) will lead a delegation to Shanghai to attend the 2023 Taipei-Shanghai City Forum. According to the city government, which made the announcement on Friday, the event will be held in-person and will run from Aug 29 to Aug 31. Both cities have agreed to hold the forum on-site as the COVID-19 pandemic slows down.
Taipei and Shanghai will deliver keynote speeches on open source technologies and digital economy respectively under the forum’s theme of “new trends, new development”. The two sides also plan to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further cooperation in carbon reduction and sustainability, convention and exhibition industries, and badminton. The MOU will be signed by business bureaus representatives of the two cities.
The Taipei city government said in a news release that the forum provides a platform for both cities to exchange ideas and learn from each other on topics such as city governance, trade, culture, arts, tourism, health care and sports education.
