The Philippine Masskara Festival Parade, one of the biggest Filipino cultural events, will be back on the streets of Taipei on September 10. The activity, now in its fourth year, will feature more than 20 teams in colorful costumes and smiling masks.
Civil Affairs Department Population Policy Division Section Chief Lin Feng-yu (林峯裕) says given the increasing number of new immigrants, foreign students, and migrant workers, the Taipei City Government initiated the festival in 2020 to encourage Taiwanese to respect and appreciate multiculturalism.
Unique, vibrant masks will be given away for free at 2 p.m. These one-of-a-kind masks will be available at the plaza next to EEC GLOBAL TK on Zhongshan North Road Section 3. They can then head to St. Christopher's Church for the start of the parade which will end with a fashion show at Qingguang Park. The event will run from 3 to 5 p.m.
