Typhoon Doksuri has made landfall in southern Taiwan, bringing heavy rain and causing streams to overflow. The mountainous regions have experienced torrential downpours, leaving many locals in Pingtung worried.

Some residents expressed their anxiety.  One woman said she is scared of the typhoon. Another said because she lives next to the river, when there is heavy rain she does get scared.

The Ministry of National Defense sent support to affected areas and more than 3,000 people were successfully evacuated from various district offices.

In the Jiaxian District of Kaohsiung, people are on high alert, and in Yixiang some were forced to evacuate in fear of potential surges in the streams.

In the Laiyi Township, vehicles entering the Laiyi Tribe area had to register in the morning but as rain intensified in the mountains, authorities closed the roads and mandatory evacuations were ordered after noon.

The Ailiao River surged beyond its banks, causing roads to collapse and high-voltage power lines to come crashing down in Pingtung.

A tree collapsed on overhead power lines in the Taiwu Township causing power outages. Taipower personnel were urgently dispatched to make necessary repairs.

The concern over falling rocks also led to some road closures.

As Typhoon Doksuri continues its impact, please stay safe and remain vigilant!
