French Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Vice President André Gattolin has led a delegation to Taiwan. Vice President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) received Gattolin and the group at the Presidential Palace on Monday morning.
In his speech, Lai thanked Gattolin for facilitating the French Senate’s passage of multiple resolutions supporting Taiwan's participation in international organizations. He said that Taiwan and France share the universal values of democracy, freedom, and human rights and that democracies worldwide are becoming more and more united in the face of totalitarianism.
Lai also pointed out that Taiwan's solid-state battery company, Prologium Technology, recently announced a 5.2 billion euro investment to build a factory in Dunkirk, France. He said he hopes that Taiwan and France can continue to strengthen their economic and trade relations in the future.
